Dr. John Gatto, President of the Academy of Professional Hypnosis, summarized hypnosis in a letter:
Hypnosis is a many-thousand-year-old bridge to wellness in physical and mental health, relationships, creativity, happiness, and serenity. It is an enhancer of abilities and talents in music, art, and sports, while also having the capability to beneficially affect the workplace. It is a bridge from the past built by the priests of the Sleep Temples, tribal shamans, medical doctors of centuries past, and the re-awakened champions of the mind/body/spirit connection. It is a bridge to the future which is quickly rushing towards us in leaps and bounds. Hypnosis can introduce you to your timeless, ageless self. Hypnosis provides you the opportunity to change the difficult to easy, the complex to simple, and to make the terrors of life manageable. It is a gift to light our way in the dark, to focus on goals and to obtain them. All this you have within you. All this is yours. You need only to be taught.
The practice of "Hypnosis" has been around for thousands of years in many different cultures. Other terms for it are: "Deep Relaxation", "Guided Imagery", "Creative Visualization", and "Guided Meditation". All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, the difference between all the variants - and even individuals - is how you are guided to enter a state where suggestions are more readily accepted. I like to define hypnosis as "the uncritical acceptance of a concept or an idea at the subconscious level". If your subconscious accepts what is suggested to you without questioning or analyzing it, you've been hypnotized.
Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon. It is a state similar to that experienced just before going to sleep at night, or just before awakening in the morning, where one hears and knows what is going on, but just doesn't want to move. At this time one is highly suggestible. A similar state may occur during the day as well.
A person in the hypnotic state can get up or move if he wants to. It is a natural state of mind and body. People will insist that they have not been hypnotized because they could hear everything and know that they could open their eyes and get up at any time. It is not essential to be in a deep state of relaxation to experience hypnosis, you can experience it with your eyes open. Although, the deeper you go, the more effective (i.e., accepted and lasting) the suggestions will be.
With this attitude a person can undo any beneficial effects of hypnosis he might have just received. In the early stages of hypnosis some people wonder what reaction to expect and since they may have preconceived and false ideas of what they believe it should be, they look for some drastic effects to prove that they indeed were in a state of hypnosis.
People expect to go into a state of unconsciousness… this does not happen. If the person is unconscious, how can suggestions be followed? The body is relaxed and the mind is aware and awake. At that time the suggestions are easily acceptable.
One may have difficulty describing the sensations experienced during hypnosis to prove that one has been hypnotized. Sensations vary from one session to the next and from one person to another. It would be a mistake for everyone to expect tingling in the body, a floating feeling or a sinking into a deep hypnotic state - each experience is unique. A person can accept hypnotic suggestions without any of these sensations.
The only proof of hypnosis is the results. The visible results can be quick or, more often, be a gradual progress. If a person gives hypnosis adequate time, desired results can be accomplished. With patience and faith in the power of the mind, a good subject can achieve lasting and positive results.
To begin with, you are not in a trance. It is merely a state of relaxation. You are not asleep. You are as aware as you are right now reading this page. Whenever YOU wish to terminate the hypnotic state you can.
Definitely not! Actually you will gain even more control over your body and mind with your newly acquired knowledge. And further more, you will not do anything in hypnosis that you would not do otherwise. You will not do anything that is against your moral, religious or ethical values.
There is generally a positive cumulative effect on your overall emotional and physical health. You also will tend to notice gradual changes in the problem areas you are working on. These changes often occur spontaneously.
No. Actually, your mental awareness is increased and you are even more in tune with your surroundings then when not in hypnosis. For example, a hypnotized person will be the first to run out in case of a fire. Further more, you couldn't hear your instructions if you were asleep.
Most people do not think they can be hypnotized, but once they try it is simple. About 95% of all people can be hypnotized. Anyone with a mental age over 6, willing to be hypnotized, and truly wanting the results will be an easy subject.
No. The opposite is true. The more intelligent and imaginative a person is, the easier it is. The majority of people who do not go into hypnosis are those who have the mistaken notion that hypnosis will hurt them.
Rest assured that your visit or purchase is completely confidential. No mention will be made of your status as a client unless you approve it. The "Comments from Clients" on the site and in the catalog are only from clients who explicitly chose to allow publication of their comments.
Instructions for the optimal use of the recordings are now online, they contain more background information that you may find useful.
If you will be experiencing hypnosis for the first time, I recommend you start with Introduction to Deep Hypnosis. It takes a prolonged approach to guiding you into deep hypnosis, and is particularly effective in getting you to let go of any reservations. It instills keywords that are used by the other recordings to guide you into deep hypnosis quickly.
I created many powerful general CDs and cassettes for you to choose from. Choose your subjects and order the recordings in the styles and formats that you want. After you listen for a week or so, write down what changes you or people around you noticed. Then think about what suggestions you would like to add to better focus on your specific needs. Write down as much as you can think of; the more information I have, the better I will be able to help you. Send this list to me as soon as possible, so I will be able to create a personalized recording that addresses your individual needs. You can continue to do so for as long as you like, each time the new recording will be stronger and more focused. With time you will learn more about yourself and improve more quickly. It's like having your personal hypnocounselor 24 hours a day! Imagine the possibilities...
The program is most effective if you follow the previous suggestion of follow-up recordings. Hypnotic recordings help the most when listened to often, especially in the first few weeks. I suggest that you listen at least once each day, giving your subconscious mind ample opportunity to learn these new positive suggestions and to accept them as its own.
During a personal session or a telephone/Skype session Inessa constantly adjusts the experience based on how you are reacting. One of Inessa's special talents is her ability to perceive which subtle adjustments in pacing, perspective, method of analogy, etc., will guide the experience to be deeper and more effective. The recorded sessions have been designed for "average" clients - you will benefit more from a session that is dynamically tailored to your personality.
In addition, you will receive a recording of the session to take home with you. This affords you the opportunity to listen to it repeatedly and derive maximum benefit from the visit. Any nervousness and anxiety that may have interfered with your ability to relax, open up, and trust will subside when you revisit the experience in the privacy of your home. You will be able to progress at your own rate and fully realize the benefits of the visit.
The number of sessions required to resolve an issue depends on many factors, especially your level of suggestibility, willingness to trust, and desire. When you come in for the initial consultation, Inessa will evaluate these factors and be able to give you some idea - or inform you that she cannot help you.
When you first begin, optimal results are obtained when you minimize the number of new things your brain is subjected to. It is best to focus on one subject until you are comfortable with the process. After the process is familiar and accepted, suggestions involving multiple subjects can be incorporated into a single session.
