Do yourself a favor and allocate just 2-5 minutes (whenever – and as often as – you can).
Find a quiet place, where you will not be disturbed.
Perhaps set an alarm (many cell phones offer relatively peaceful sounds to choose from), so you can allow your mind to relax and not worry about how many minutes it’s been.

Close your eyes (or let your eyes relax on a point in front of you)… Take a few deep breaths, and really allow your shoulders to drop… Let them drop even more.
Allow your jaws to sag a bit, relax the muscles of your face…
Now, just breathe deeper and deeper and deeper….

When you’re ready to come back (or your alarm rings) take an extra second to inhale deeply and just LET GO even more with your exhale…. With the next few inhales breathe in pure smiles, happy thoughts and positivity, and feel yourself uplifted from your core!

AND THAT’S THE DEFINITION OF RELATIVITY!

Now….
Imagine that you are holding a glass of water in your outstretched hand for one minute. Can you handle the weight? Most likely the answer will be Yes.
But what if you needed to hold it for 5 minutes? And how about for 10 minutes?
20 minutes?
Can you still keep your arm outstretched? Probably not. Why not? Does it seem much heavier to you?
You know the weight did not change. But you no longer are able to hold it….
Of course, the absolute weight doesn’t matter! It’s all about how long you hold it. The longer you hold it, the heavier it feels!

It’s the same way with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on. Just as with the glass of water, at times you have to put it down for a while and rest.

When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the demands of life. We need time to Restore, Replenish, Reinvent, and Rejoice!!!! Allow yourself that time, even if only for a few minutes a day. You’ll start noticing the positive effects right away!! 🙂

Bringing Back Think/Act/Be

Just as we discussed last week, the Wealth Mindset resides in us all! To see this, first acknowledge that you deserve fortune, then (with goodwill towards all) pursue – and fully commit to – the wealth goal in every avenue of life.
Beginning steps are the toughest, as you must break through many years of harmful and destructive programming just to begin existing in the new zone… the realm of possibility.
Of course, it’s a process just as is any habit change. STOP saying things to the effect of “being broke”, “penniless”, “so poor”, “stupid”, “unworthy”. JUST STOP. It may seem like a very small detail, it may seem silly. But it adds up, and the results are far from funny. Constantly bringing yourself down, let alone battling external daily influences, is one of the gravest and worst injustices you can perpetrate. Seriously!

Experiments done by scientists and metaphysicians alike have time and again come to the conclusion: we are what we think. We become what we encourage. We are defined by our actions which are defined by our thoughts which are defined by the slant we allow our thoughts to have. In more straightforward terms: thinking, knowing, and acting as though something is true causes that something to become true.

Whenever you begin to utter anything along the negative lines (or even right after you’ve said it, if you didn’t catch it in time) IMMEDIATELY obliterate that thought or phrase and state the opposite. Say “erase, erase” and be engulfed in thankfulness that the opposite POSITIVE phrase is correct.
I’ll give you an example. Suzie noticed the connotations right after she told a friend that if she spent one more penny she’d be totally broke… Although the bird had already flown, so to speak, she knew she had a chance to make it right. Out loud (in this case she chose to whisper to herself) “erase erase erase” and then she asserted a positive and still factual statement: “Another penny is not to be wasted on this project… it’s not in the budget. I am rich though and so thankful for it!”

Just as in painting, different strokes for different folks. However is right for you, find ways today to incorporate positive healthy speech into your life. Tell yourself always that you are rich and dancing with abundance. Behave in ways that show it’s true. Tell yourself (and others) descriptive phrases about your worth and value. It’s OK, because you wish the same for everyone else!

Imagine the poverty-speak and poor-mindset of before Peeling Away… never to be seen again… Every moment every hour everyday just peeling away, going extinct, being replaced by this New skin of fortune, luck, goodwill, wealth & health. Seek And You Will Always Find!

On this journey called life, we are constantly searching for things that enrich us. Most of us seek wealth and its accompanying financial security. Some of us seek that special someone to make our lives complete, while many others just want a love and peace that soothes the soul.

During any morning and afternoon rush or at any lunch-spot, have you ever noticed that everyone seems to be searching for something?
Usually they are seeking out directions, the bus, coffee, ways to beat traffic, items to help prepare for the workday, things involved with raising children, maybe even the search for homework (and its answers). Everyone seems to be in a constant rush, while still going nowhere but the same destinations day after day.

Imagine, for just a moment… Instead of only thinking of the routine, or of weekly grocery, cleaning, and other to-do lists, what if we took a running inventory of all that is good and all that is not so good in our lives…?

Let’s give a moment to the things that are so often taken for granted.

First of all, we’re alive, and breathing in the air of existence…
That certainly beats the alternative! If you live, you can give. You can give of yourself, your spirit, your personality, your time. You are you; that alone separates you from the rest of the pack.

Secondly, you have the capacity to love… So, by all means, spread it.
You can start where you are standing – at your current station in life. Pass on feelings of goodwill and love to those who pass through your world. Your positivity encourages them to share goodwill with others. We can make a huge difference, with the smallest efforts! The art of communication is vital in this process, because as social beings we are not an island, and we cannot do it all single-handedly. We need help from those who can help us, and in many instances, it doesn’t take much.

A kind word of encouragement could be someone’s springboard to a great day. If someone tells us that we’re capable of accomplishing X, Y, and Z and we don’t believe it at the time, the thought still stays with us, filing away until we’re ready to set the stage for it to manifest.

The first step to changing life’s circumstances by will, and fashioning into reality what once was just a vision, is acknowledging the fact that you’re already rich.
It may not show up in your wallet just yet, but this voyage in beautiful and bountiful life is proof of your wealth. 🙂

Redefining Food & Healthcare

Many wise individuals have observed that prevention is the best way to stay healthy… Logic agrees that it’s beneficial to be proactive instead of reactive. Everyone needs food to survive, but the quality of what we eat is often more important than the amount.

So many have gotten into the habit of rushing through meals… it probably started from early years in school and at work whenever food was squeezed in between other tasks. Someone once shared with me that his long-term routine (army life) taught him food was only a seven-minute luxury at a time – clean-up included!
But that’s not how it should be! As one of the four imperatives to staying alive (along with water, oxygen and sleep), food must climb higher on the priority list!

As soon as you read this you’ll already have a few extra tools and a bit more awareness too, to help better nourish your body. I hope today’s tidbit of commonly available informational goodness brings you heightened health. 🙂

To eat without rushing… that really is a big one.
And as fun as it is to read (or watch TV) while eating, these habits are making it easier for you to be deaf to your body! Your health will Flourish when you both correctly portion each meal, and consistently know the precise moment that you are satiated.
You can only do this if you actually pay attention, and allow yourself to Just Eat whenever it’s time for a meal.
Perhaps you might even want to introduce probiotics… I suggest researching it first, of course, to find the right balance and dosage for you. I’ve noticed many wonderful benefits since adding them to my regimen.

Lastly, a diet with a lower glycemic index is scientifically proven to be healthier! Not only did a new study come out, but we’ve known for years that the compounds in refined sugars and breads become addictive. The bacteria in your gut begins craving them and your conscious efforts alone sometimes aren’t enough to fight such nagging desires.

Work on cutting out (or at least reducing and slowly replacing) sweets with fruits and more natural derivatives (honey, maple syrup, maple sugar…) .
In this way you begin lessening the overall junk in your diet: day by day, meal by meal.
It’s a process, I admit, but you will immediately notice your stronger feelings of well-being, and how much more control you have over your moods.

Start small if you like. BUT START NOW!
The easiest beginnings might perhaps be adding less sugar to each cup of tea/coffee, or beginning to truly read labels and assess content, and becoming more informed and avoiding known junk (high fructose corn syrup, all the artificial colors, etc.).

As you progress you will find it affecting and effecting moods throughout your day for the better!
You can start now, incorporating these suggestions… You will find that you naturally gain relaxation (and perhaps even somewhat subconsciously – instead of always by your constant efforts).
Plus you will tackle aggravation effortlessly when you are even-keel!

All habits take time to heal and change… Take small steps today and find your health improving tremendously, just in time for summer & to show off your hard work!

Navigating Narrow Streets & Desired Landing-Places

To a non-local, figuring out Istanbul’s public transportation can be a daunting experience. Oftentimes I needed to ask 4 or 5 people before locating someone that spoke enough English to direct me where I wanted to go. The hotel concierge gave me directions to a metro station by saying: ‘turn left and another left and keep on going down ’til you get to the metro’.

The problem was that after I took the two lefts there was no down, and I needed to ask around again to figure out the general direction of the metro station.
One of the people I came across was a young man that told me he’s a student from Serbia, and that he’d be happy to walk me to my destination. After many turns in the narrow streets downtown, I was relieved to discover that we’d finally arrived.
I went down the long escalator and again needed to ask who spoke English, as I didn’t see the name of my desired stop. A young Turkish woman understood where I needed to go and said, to my dismay, that I was in the completely wrong Metro and I needed to go back up to the street, take a bus to the right one, and then continue on to my destination.
As I came up the escalators I thought I’d ask for help once more before exiting the building. I was informed that it truly wasn’t the ideal tram rail, but it could work if I just got on for two stops and then walked for ten minutes. You can imagine the elation I felt discovering such an easy solution!

Lesson:
You need to be clear about where you’re headed.
It’s important to fully communicate the final destination, just as I needed to be clearer with the Serbian student that guided me in the first place!

How do we go about it?
The steps:
*Be crystal clear;
*Find a knowledgeable guide that can help you to the right path;
*Stay the course until your destination.

These steps may seem simple, and maybe you’re already aware of them. Perhaps you’re wondering how important it is to actually follow them.
Well, what if it meant the difference between arriving at your destination, or not…?

Of course, goals take us near and far: to any number of proverbial metros, and many other (perhaps more esoteric) landmarks along the way.

So…. what is Your destination?
And even more importantly: how clear are you (with yourself, first) about where you want to go?

If it’s easier, write some things down really fast.

The Persistence and Kindness Connection

These past few weeks in Israel have been full of excitement and life’s circumstances falling into place. I reconnected with a handful of friends from High School. I hadn’t seen them nor spoken to them in thirty years! The friendship and human connection is really something… In many ways we didn’t really feel our three-decades apart and we just picked up where we left off!
I think that when you create meaningful links, they become something special on which time has no bearing.

I also had a strong desire to catch up with someone I hadn’t spoken to in about 5 years and she was initially very hard to reach. I wanted the opportunity to uplift her a bit, and I’d actually been trying since before my trip to touch base but to no avail. Somehow, on my last day in the area, following my intuitions caused us to fortuitously make contact and see each other!

I found myself reflecting on how patience and persistence often go hand in hand.
One must have persistence to achieve some unique and seeming impossibilities, and also the patience to see them through! If one has only persistence and couples it with impatience, then one is prone to feel inadequacy in the huge world. But when one has goodwill, persistence, AND patience… well, the evidence of how huge an impact one has can be dazzling at any given moment!

And I experienced another first that night in Tel Aviv – yoga on a rooftop.
As I basked in the awesomeness of Life, I brimmed with appreciation for Life’s gifting nature, and for how it rewards patience, persistence and (most of all) kindness. Sometimes these rewards are nearly immediate, as in this case… after yoga, the event offered a dip in a hot tub (also on the roof). The instructor informed me that usually there is a line for the Jacuzzi, since there’s a six person capacity. Apparently the weather that night was chillier than usual, as no one remained except the instructor and I! Half a Jacuzzi to myself, a breathtaking view, and wonderfully relaxing conversation to boot!

At other times rewards may take longer to reveal themselves…
Though I have noticed that in the interim, all the miracles I experience daily seem to shine and radiate with an ever more brilliant intensity.

Onward to the Istanbul leg of my adventure… Turkey is a country I haven’t yet visited, and this is bound to be a beautiful continuation of my travels. Goodbye for now Israel, thank you for the great new local connections. I’m looking forward to branching out and working with war veterans to facilitate healing and help them relieve PTSD.

A Middle Eastern Kind of Serene

Last week I began my month-long Spring adventure in the Middle East and on Friday I landed in Israel. Before I left for the trip I had inquired as to the weather and I was told that it was hot, sunny and basically summer… So, of course, I packed all summer clothes and only one jacket.

Israel welcomed me with dark, heavy clouds.
That evening, when I went for a two-mile walk, I was reassured that even if the rain did start it would only drizzle lightly. When I was at my walk’s most distant point, the heavens indeed opened up and it rained so hard that it was impossible for me to see ahead more than a few inches at a time! I needed to run back to the house trusting I would make it safely, without the luxury of seeing where I was stepping or if there was a car approaching when I crossed every street. And Israeli drivers are really reckless sometimes!
Needless to say, I was completely soaked when I got back. My body shivered all night on the cold, hard bed in this super cold house with open windows, and no heat.
I reflected on how pampered I am back in the USA… living in a heated house, sleeping on a heated bed that’s always soft and comfortable… using accurate and to-the-minute weather predictions to ensure I’m prepared…
But back to the present moment. The heavy rains and chilly temperatures continued all through the weekend! And this isn’t even a rant about meteorologists.

I’m so thankful to be here and to able to recount my rainy excitement with you…!
As I penned it, I realized it’s one of those times I’ve intimately experienced the Serenity Prayer.
I’ve been working on accepting these things that I cannot change and yes, of course, it’s easier said than done, but that’s the beautiful challenge of it.
I’m brimming with gratitude and peace and could not help but share this reminder: the proficiency for Serenity and Wisdom is a process. You’re doing the best you can!
Remain loving and patient with yourself as you continue developing and fulfilling all that you seek!
