Bridging The Gap In Gender Interactions!

Often it’s difficult to figure out what the people around you are saying, what they mean, and why they even brought something up at that particular time. How do you overcome differences and achieve more cohesive balance and communication?

Women and men communicate differently, and often they go about trying to accomplish things differently too. When men and women are trying to approach a situation where it’s potentially volatile subject-matter and they could possibly get in an argument, there are many ways to recognize when these differences come into play, and diffuse a potential MIScommunication.

Georgetown University professor Deborah Tannen was one of the first to reveal social communication differences in various settings. One of her quotes is: “Men grow up in a world in which a conversation is often a contest, either to achieve the upper hand or to prevent other people from pushing them around. For women, however, talking is often a way to exchange confirmation and support.”

The genders also have different ways of viewing project completion. Women have a tendency to ask more questions before working on something, to clarify how to accomplish the task. Men, on the other hand, have more of a tendency to just dive right in without asking any questions. Plus, men generally think that when a woman asks questions she doesn’t know how to do something, when it’s really a matter of improving performance as much as possible. Not only that, when men don’t ask questions before starting a project, women take it as the fact that they must know enough to complete the task – and sometimes that’s not the case at all. So… there are all kinds of ways that differences in perception affect and effect interactions between the genders.

Another one of Deborah Tannen’s quotes is as follows: “We tend to look through language and not realize how much power language has… Each underestimates her own power and overestimates the others’.” When we approach different conversations, we tend to already have a preconceived notion as to what things they might say, and what that will imply. Unfortunately, communication is not always meant for people to read between the lines… I find that often communication is actually said exactly how it’s meant and when the listener tries to read between the lines, it can become overly complicated and argumentative.

Tannen also states that “the biggest mistake is believing there is one right way to listen, to talk, to have a conversation – or a relationship.” People view every interaction through their self-made perceptions of what a conversation is, and what would make it successful or futile. This is problematic, because it builds in trouble and can cause rampant miscommunication.

Since each person’s life is a series of conversations, it’s kind of important to work on some of these (otherwise inherent) issues. I’ve noticed in my own life that when I make an effort to bridge the gaps in communication between myself and another woman, or myself and a male that everything goes much more smoothly. It’s actually possible to make the most of the differences, and create better solutions to problems when you put multiple heads together. Not only that, most people are great at manifesting things, and when they work cohesively with others around them to narrow down exactly what they want, things seem to more perfectly fall into place.

So what are a few ways you could start bridging these gaps in your life?

1) Better clarify that you understand a topic, even when you have questions about how best to go about it. Sometimes, maybe just dive in and only ask questions if it’s truly necessary (or do the research yourself). Often, all it takes is an extra statement summarizing the gamut of parts that you DO understand and how most efficiently you CAN do something, in order to garner you the respect you deserve for your problem-solving skills.

2) Be more patient when working through these issues, because generally you have to interact with the same circle of people for extended periods of time. After you break through barriers with certain individuals, you will find it’s much easier to talk to them later and work out future disagreements.

3) When making a presentation in front of a mixed group, recognize that different genders use different types of examples and change your strategy accordingly. Instead of jokes or analogies that would apply to one gender or the other, use gender-neutral analogies. Instead of home-life stories, or comparisons to sports etc, use analogies that involve movies, or nature, or the like. If you do find yourself using a gender-specific analogy, always add a few extra sentences to explain what you mean.

4) Just as you already understand not to put words in someone’s mouth, it’s important to not assume they are on the same page (when they haven’t responded or acknowledged said page), OR think that they surely know what you’re talking about just because they haven’t said otherwise. And sometimes the best idea when you notice a very dumb disagreement is about to get out of hand, is to politely suggest the whole conversation be ended or dropped right then at that moment (without anyone accepting or denying fault).

5) The basic secret medley strategy to communicating effectively with anyone (anywhere) is listening (actually listening – not just waiting to speak) and making an effort to understand their position, as well as articulating what you’re trying to say in the plainest most straight-forward ways possible. And the final piece of this medley strategy is staying calm and composed the whole time. Whenever one person enters a conversation with animosity it’s easy for the other person to pick up on it, so do your best to not be the one that introduces it to the interaction.

Breaking down gender barriers can start NOW, with your efforts in every communication – in your own day-to-day life! I guarantee you’ll notice less fighting and more collaborating.

At The End Of Your Rope? Tie A Knot & Hang On!

Everyone comes across stressful times in life when things aren’t going as smoothly as would be nice, and circumstances aren’t falling into place. Perhaps people in your life aren’t being agreeable, or your work situation isn’t as fulfilling as it once was. Perhaps family members are giving you trouble, or funds aren’t adding up as you’d envisioned.
There are a multitude of things that could be going wrong, and everyone’s life is different… however, you already know – somewhere deep down – there is a much longer list of things that are going right for you. The problem is that when someone feels dragged down by negative happenings, they forget all about the positive side of things. They forget how amazing they are as a person; they forget how many wondrous things exist in their daily life; they forget to notice the little but magical blessings that show up; they forget about all of the tiny happinesses of living!

So, what to do???
How do you get out of a slump once you find yourself immersed by it????

Well, first of all… I know I mention this often, but it’s become an integral part of my day and I’ve noticed vast improvements because of it! Make sure that each morning, within about 10 minutes of waking up, you find time to get in front of a mirror (by yourself, and out of earshot of anyone else so you don’t feel weird). Look yourself in the eyes, smile, and say “Thank you for being so wonderful” and then say “Thank you for being so beautiful [or handsome]” and then say “Thank you, [your first name].” Once you acknowledge to yourself (with conviction) that you are awesome and deserving of life’s beauties, your day is started that much better.

Second, make sure you don’t surround yourself with annoying noises or commercials within the first hour or so of being awake. When you’re just waking up, the body is getting acclimated to what kind of day it’s going to be… and it’s important to start it off with only pleasant sounding noises and also start it off with a lack of advertising or other things you have to tune out.
Perhaps this means you ask people you’re not on good terms with to wait an hour or two before speaking with you, after you wake up. I’ve noticed that the first thirty minutes are crucial, and as long as you can keep things positive for that long it’s a good beginning to the day. If you can keep things positive for the first hour after waking, then it’s a great beginning to the day!

Third, work a little more on not perpetuating the dramas of your life. It’s inevitable that there will be people and situations that are just trying to get you riled up. But how do you react? And how do you respond? Those are what really matter, because they govern your mood, and the frequency of similar situations in the future.
The amount of respect you have for yourself and others is evident at these times, and it’s important to remember that you DESERVE prosperity and positivity, and so does everyone else. 🙂

Fourth, if you ever find yourself wondering what there is in this life for you anymore, make a mental list. Think of all the things/people you’d miss in this world and all the people that would miss you. There are always many more reasons to keep on than there are reasons to give up. Remember to never choose a permanent solution to what is probably a temporary problem.

Everyone is just out here, roaming around, trying to access the most beneficial scenario for themselves. We’re all on a similar path, and there are more than enough riches and happy miracles for everyone to enjoy – on a daily basis!
Keep your eyes open to these miracles that knock on your proverbial door… and keep your heart open to the positivity that is always coming your way. Life situations aren’t always good, because we need just a touch of not-so-wonderful moments so that we can appreciate the depth of all the oh-so-wonderful ones. Since it’s all a matter of perspective; why not entertain the most beneficial way of looking at things? You will surely be rewarded many times over for choosing this positive point of view; most likely, you’ll begin to notice additional miracles right away!

The (Not So Distant) Future Of Your Typical Doctor’s Visit

Although it’s not publicized as much as before, we are apparently at the precipice of change in terms of the typical medical practice. The future of medicine as we know it is the open-sourcing of more information that anyone can digest, AND the widespread availability, affordability – and, ideally, privacy – of digitized DNA information.
In the future (and in an ideal world) we will be able to get most of our medical results directly (as doctors will be doing more appointments via mobile device and will communicate all pertinent info), and future prescriptions will be composed of accurate predictions and recommendations based on DNA information that is taken on a regular basis to monitor developments.
It’s been a long time coming, as we had these abilities roughly 20 years ago. Of course, technology has come leaps and bounds since then… And the companies that offer such services are still budding industries, trying to gain solid footholds.

There are, undoubtedly, moral concepts at play here. Yes, the information is relatively accurate, but there are still false positives that could cause someone concern, and then turn out to be skewed. And, yes, insurance companies’ access to this data is still a potential reality in some cases. Nobody wants their genetic makeup and possible future disease records to keep them from having the coverage they deserve. Even if the information is made ‘anonymous’, I understand there are still ways to track down who the person is.

And yet, there is lots of evidence to suggest that it’s helpful to know ahead of time what things you might be predisposed to, so that you can make smarter and more catered life decisions. This is the solid scientific argument for digitizing DNA info, and sometimes it’s true. However, that leaves the percentage (whatever it may be) of people that find out they are predisposed to something, and still never get around to exercising more or eating better or changing their habits at all. And it also opens the door to a potential hypochondriac scenario, where someone finds out they might come down with an illness, and suddenly they exhibit symptoms.
Now don’t get me wrong, it’s happened many times that a person got their DNA digitally analyzed, it turns up they’re at high risk of developing something, and within that same time-frame they’ve discovered they really do have that something already.
At either stage, it’s been shown that if an expert does the proper wading through data and gives the person a solid recommendation package (after the DNA analysis) it can be helpful, and even healthful.

There are many reasons why someone would want to find out this information, and I’m guessing that within 20 more years it may be a routine practice to digitize people’s DNA and create diagnoses (and therapy) based on that info.

To be honest, I’m excited about how this will further validate alternative energy-work and other non-invasive therapies. Since the mind is incredibly powerful, and it’s been proven that we can fundamentally alter things just with our thoughts and faith, I think it would be interesting (much later) to take multiple DNA samples from someone. Basically, a before and after of alternative healing. I think that if a person is armed with both a wealth of information, and the tools to improve things, the possibilities are endless!

I’ve heard so many stories of how people have been able to cure blindness, or stop disease in its tracks, or even prolong health in amazing ways – all with healing-touch energy, faith, and persistence. So, if someone learned of their high-risk nature to getting something due to having certain alleles in their DNA, they could then access a catered healing program based on what they’re trying to overcome, and maybe even alter their DNA for the better?????
What if?
I think the fusion of alternative therapy and conventional (and developing) medicine is still in its early stages, in our modern day and age. I’m excited to see what the future holds, and very hopeful that health and abundance will be more available and bountiful for all.

The Power Of Reading In An E-centric Society

The expanses of our human imaginations extend so much further than what we envision and understand when we look at stuff online and in picture form.
The world of reading is so intense, because books have been crafted through the generations as portals to new ideas and exciting frontiers. You literally feel the weight of this truth as you get engulfed in an engrossing book or intently peruse a work of literary art.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to the love of reading at the young age of 4. I can confidently say that I have enjoyed thousands of books in my life, and I’m not anywhere close to being done. I’ve tried the new approaches of a library at your fingertips anywhere (e-books and their libraries) but I find them hard to concentrate on after mere minutes of staring into the screen.

It’s awesome how powerful books are, when you truly examine and utilize them. It’s amazing, that feeling of accomplishment you get when you finish a book and can lovingly slam it closed, knowing you received another unique and creative ride that taught you something as well.

Some people say that libraries are a dying breed; that eventually everything that is worth anything will be digitized and media consumption as we know it will be forever changed. I disagree. I think that the need for charging electronic devices, and the inherent crutch of subscriptions and updates will keep e-media from completely disassembling libraries as we know them. I think that out of the billions of people in this world, many of which have yet to experience computers or Kindles or iPhones, a good majority of them have come in contact with a book at least once. And, more than likely, this book left an impact of some sort. Once you truly indulge in books, and remain open to impacts from them, your life is different and fuller. You begin to crave that feeling again. And it’s not similar to cravings for addictive things, because (unless you read smut or in the dark) there is really no downside or side-effect to/from the activity of reading.

I implore you, if you have yet to experience this new form of love and adventure, or maybe if you’ve been away from it too long… Pick up a book. Choose the length and genre based on your interests and what pulls you… Peruse the shelves of your local library on instinct, and read the jackets of hardcovers at random. You just might be introducing yourself to another extremely fun and rewarding past-time you couldn’t possibly live without now. You never know. And comic books are okay, but they aren’t really going to deliver the same engaging and rewarding experience that I’ve so poetically described. A lot of the descriptions above have been stream of thought, if that shows you how from the heart this message is.

I feel like everyone and anyone needs the love of books in their life; even if it’s a small fragment of book-love that draws the person in once a year to read a literary work. It’s an inherently human art, and so much can be learned from writing styles and descriptions of authentically different locations and time-periods.

Finding Your Gifts & Mission In This Life

Everyone comes across a similar series of questions at some point in life: what is my purpose here? Why am I here right now, under these circumstances? What can I do to accomplish my quest in this life?

Well, surely you’ve noticed you have some pretty amazing talents. Perhaps they are related to culinary arts, or music, or sports. Perhaps they are even related to healing, compassion, or efficiency. Whatever the gamut of your skills may be, there is definitely a reason why you were gifted this particular combination of talents.

Spend some time contemplating all of the things you are able to do, and all of the abilities you have. Maybe you even want to compile a list… It’s possible the number of skills you have is too long for you to remember everything. After you have contemplated all of these talents, begin to try connecting the dots even more. Is there a certain profession you’ve had or certain job you’ve held where you felt more content than at any other time? Is there a combination of your talents that speaks to you, and allows you to feel successful and on top of the world? Is there any potential project or job that’s always seemed enjoyable to you, that you haven’t yet pursued?

Your gifts in this life are surely numerous, and your opportunities are more numerous still.
Sometimes the quest of finding what your passions and goals are involve figuring out more about yourself and which directions will make you happiest.

Remember that the gifts you have are for you first, but are also there for you to share with others.
For me, I started at a young age dabbling in alternative therapies, and after a long hiatus I realized that was the framework for my life’s work. My goal in this life is to help heal as many people as possible, while also teaching them tools they can use to heal themselves further every single day.

How To Stay Positive Amid The Chaos of Life

I’m sure you have found that there are many negative influences in life that try to get you down. And surely you’ve considered the great benefits of not letting them get to you…. But how??? How do you say “no” and only let positivity into your sphere?

Here are a few ways you can accomplish that and stay stress-free:

1) If you happen to know that you are going to come across negativity in your day ahead of time, the easiest thing is to create a shield. The way to do that is to close your eyes and imagine a wave of positive energy flow through you. Then, imagine that another wave is washing over you, but this time envision that it is in the shape of a shield. It washes over you and leaves the positive energy perfectly around you to where it will stay surrounding you no matter where you go. After that, envision that whenever negative energy or remarks come across your shield, they just slide off leaving you free of their weight.

2) If you don’t have a positive energy shield and find yourself in a situation where you need to stay positive, it helps to get in certain habits. Instead of letting whatever someone says or does get to you, take a deep breath and imagine a wave of positivity washing over you and filling you up completely. Sometimes it might be difficult but by taking a moment to relax instead of engaging the situation, you minimize the negativity you allow in.

3) Something you can do in the meantime, whenever you have a few moments, is work on yourself. Often we collect negative energy without realizing it and it determines how we react to situations. Spend some time relaxing yourself and releasing old junk that doesn’t serve you anymore. I’ve found that often negative energy collects in different body parts and it helps to imagine that parts of your body are imbued in positivity and allow all of the grey energy out. After that, imagine that body part is encased in beautiful quartz that is constantly clearing the energy around it, leaving it pristine in its positivity.

Remember to give yourself the respect that you deserve in every situation. Don’t allow someone else’s careless words to cause you to question your abilities, because they might not even mean to be as mean as they are. It helps to communicate with those around you and stop hurtful behavior that doesn’t serve a purpose. Remember also that if people have been hurt in the past, sometimes their defense mechanism is being mean to others so that they feel protected from similar hurt.

Life can be chaotic and unpredictable, but your positivity can be a constant. Strive to live your life with positivity surrounding you and everything you come in contact with. It’s worth it in more ways than you can imagine, because by staying positive you draw more wonderful things to your sphere.

Get Serious Relaxation From Just A One Day Unplug

It’s truly incredible what one full day of unplugging can do for you. I recently went on a camping trip just on the edge of service-range, and it was only for two nights and 1.5 days. I turned my phone off, only looked at the time once or twice, and enjoyed my surroundings more than ever! Of course, longer would have been ideal but the most important aspect is squeezing this unplugging into your schedule without much shuffling around. I’m sure it happens once in a while naturally, that you have a day or two available in a row with not many responsibilities to attend to. Instead of just vegging out and doing the same past-times you’re used to, plan ahead just a few days and throw together an unplug session. It doesn’t even have to be out of service-range, and honestly it doesn’t have to be far away from home. The elements that matter are unplugging from all your electronics, distancing yourself from them, and enjoying even the slightest change in scenery (outside).

Nature is beautiful and the world is our oyster. Why not relax somewhere else — somewhere entertaining in its simplicity?

The benefits of a regular unplug are truly amazing. The day you return to your daily routine will be like seeing it with new eyes, and your life will be put into an even lovelier perspective. The hours of work you must complete will seem a lot shorter, and your interactions with others will be much smoother. You will find that you can better pick up on the small nuances in your surroundings and that you sort out difficulties with ease.

Do yourself a favor and plan an unplug right now! Start brainstorming where you could go, and how you can take care of looming deadlines in such a way that you can forget about them altogether for a day or two! Remember to abandon all electronics! That is truly the most important aspect, because unplugging means literally only being available face-to-face and in-person. So, only take people that you can relax with that will allow (and help) you to forget about the daily routines!!!
Ideally, you’d take enough food, water (and other necessities) to last you so that you are truly responsibility-free and chore-free!

Hopefully you’ll discover (as I do, every time I escape for even just a day) increased life-enjoyment with every day that passes, and more life-fulfillment with every moment you have available! Plus, sometimes all you really need to get a good solution for something is a tad of quiet time so maybe you’ll even solve a few big life riddles!

Part 5 ~ Final Words on the Science of Getting Rich

Hopefully this June is treating you well so far!!!

By now I hope you’ve experienced (and gained help from) all the other installments of this abundance series! If not, please feel free to read the other four entries. All of these ideas are flexible and can be read in any order.

I recently re-read The Science of Getting Rich (by Wallace D. Wattles), and it inspired me to write this abundance series. It’s unfortunate that sometimes we catch ourselves forgetting that everyone has the ability and the opportunities to receive riches!
However, remember that everyone DOES have the ability and opportunity to get rich!
That means that you – whoever you may be – are always included in this sphere of riches!
You, too, can become rich if you put your mind and your actions to the goal.

Do you find yourself wanting more paraphrased nuggets of wisdom???
Here are my final key paraphrased points:

(1) Getting rich really comes down to this method of harmonizing with the universe and communicating the true depth of your desires. NOTHING MATTERS, not environment, not profession, nor life’s circumstances – but what does matter is this process combines positive thinking with joyful gratitude, and doing things in the certain way. Thank yourself for all the beautiful opportunities that surround you, and that allow you to freely celebrate abundance every day.

(2) This is a summary in the first person that you can say to yourself.
I will certainly get rich,
in exact proportion to:
– the definiteness of my vision,
– the fixity of my purpose,
– the steadiness of my faith,
– and the depth of my gratitude.
I enjoy wrapping all of my gratitude-presents and expressing & impressing them upon my world. I always meet the right people, at the right time, for the right project. I make all the money I choose, whenever I choose, doing what I love to do. Thank you!!!

(3) Never dwell upon former poverty, because that perpetuates it. Instead, focus on the coming to riches, the becoming wealthy. This is in regards to you, others, and the world. Continue to nix all notions or emotions regarding competitiveness – there is more than enough riches, more than excess riches.

(4) Be open to receiving money, every moment of every day. Know that money comes to you in many unforeseen ways, and people love to pay you money for the things you most enjoy doing. The more money you have, the more money flows to you, and multiplies into infinity and continuously, for the good and abundance of all! Thank you!

Part 4 ~ Genius From The Science of Getting Rich

Happy Summer!!!!

I’ve recently re-read The Science of Getting Rich (by Wallace D. Wattles), and I have ANOTHER INSTALLMENT of paraphrased nuggets of wisdom to share. Sometimes we catch ourselves not believing that everyone has the ability and the opportunities to receive riches!
However, everyone DOES have the ability and opportunities available (and always around) to get rich!

That means that you – whoever you may be – are also included in this sphere of riches!
You, too, can become rich if you put your mind and your actions to the goal.

It all comes down to continually shifting (previously-placed) limiting beliefs.

If you are just now joining this abundance series, please feel free to read the other three entries. All of these ideas are flexible and can be read in any order.

Here are EVEN MORE key points:

(1) Start to live richly and treat yourself to the small luxuries that life has to offer. Take yourself out to a nice restaurant sometimes, or go to a fun event that costs a little in admission. Buy yourself quality items! You deserve it! A few more dollars now on something simple can translate into years of service and/or exponentially increased enjoyment and utility in the meantime.

(2) You attract what you focus on. Refuse to focus on negativities or lack, because by giving them the light of day you bring them closer to you. INSTEAD, focus on the abundance that is inherent around you and the riches that are coming to you…. Remember, there is more than enough available for everyone. Respecting and encouraging others in their quest seeking riches helps out your abundance situation too!

(3) So that you may receive the riches you seek, you must act NOW upon the people and things in your present environment. So begin reorganizing and re-envisioning your surroundings to better suit the riches that are coming to you (as fast as you can receive and use them)! The ONLY way a person’s current conditions are hopeless is if this person is ignorant of the existence of these methods. The science of getting rich belongs to us all!

(4) Open your eyes more to the fact that opportunities and gifts show up positively and at the precisely perfect moments! Be ready to accept them, if you find they jive with what is convenient when they present themselves. Open your mind, because often there are multiple routes to a given destination, and the universe will gift you some that are perfectly suited. You are deserving of wealth, and you are meant to access unlimited riches and abundant miracles in Every Corner of Your Life!

Find yourself continuously realizing this world is ours and that nature is our ally!!!
Everyone deserves (and can access) wealth and abundance.

Everyone deserves to tell themselves fantastic things first thing Every Single Morning – beginning sentences with “I am”. Everyone deserves to know they deserve abundance and to harmoniously achieve the full gamut of their desires and ideal life-situation!!!
And everyone can also allow a wave of genuinely thankful emotion Electrify and Inspire them a few times each day!

It’s a truly beautiful thing how the benefits are endless. 🙂

Part 3 ~ Cleverness From The Science of Getting Rich

Since I’ve recently re-read The Science of Getting Rich (by Wallace D. Wattles), I have Even More paraphrased nuggets of wisdom to share. It can be automatic to disbelieve that everyone has the opportunity and the ability to receive riches!
However, everyone DOES have the ability and opportunities available (and always around) to get rich!

That means that you – whoever you may be – are also included in this sphere!
You, too, can become rich if you put your mind and actions to it.

It all comes down to continually shifting (previously-placed) limiting beliefs.
Below are EVEN MORE key points:

(1) Doing what you want to do is life. The desire to do (what you want to do) is PROOF that you have within you the power which CAN DO IT. Since you can conceive it and believe it, you can definitely achieve it. So why not start now with some tiny steps? Progressing ever so steadily towards your goals is as proactive as you can get!

(2) There is unlimited time, and NO HURRY on the creative plane. Also, there is always an abundance of opportunity. Know this is true, and accept it as fact. There is always the possibility to do what you want to do, and the circumstances that you seek are available too! Since there is only abundance and you’re starting to appreciate that fact, you are also further understanding the unlimited abundance that is available to each and every person. This means that there are opportunities for everyone, and the perfect ones are ready to present themselves at the best time, as soon as they’re ready to be received.

(3) Riches and related ideas can be beneficial to others. Of course you will feel abundance as you progress on this journey, so the natural next move is to desire to improve other peoples’ lives also. By always speaking of riches in terms of having attained them, and letting other people feel the wonderful feeling of abundance (even for just a few moments) you are spreading more positive harmony and goodwill around, because you’re communicating a concept those people might not have considered before… Sometimes all it takes is for someone to recognize there is such a thing as the lack of lack – and that’s the world we live in, as soon as we start seeing it that way.

(4) Getting rich really comes down to this method of harmonizing with the universe and communicating the true depth of your desires. Nothing matters (not environment, not profession, nor life’s circumstances) – what does matter is this process that combines determination and positive thinking with joyful gratitude, and doing things in the certain way: celebrating abundance.

Realize more and more that this world is ours and all of nature is our ally!!!
Everyone deserves (and can access) wealth and abundance.

Everyone deserves to wake up in the morning, look themselves in the eye (in a mirror), and tell themselves fantastic things – beginning sentences with “I am”. Everyone deserves to know they deserve abundance and to harmoniously achieve the full gamut of their desires and ideal life-situation.
Everyone is also capable of allowing a wave of genuinely thankful emotion electrify and inspire them a few times each day…!
